Retirement and Rassling

To keep myself from going entirely crazy during retirement, I started an Ebay consignment business. I sell mostly toys and model trains, but this past year, I agreed to help a friend sell his large collection of wrestling gear, singlets plus a hoard of 20th. Century wrestling books and publications...our mutual "mid-life crisis" as I like to consider it. Well, this entailed a 600 mile drive, each way, in a borrowed van to pick-up the "stuff," which was cool, of course, because I got a little rassling in during the trip. Back home, my Ebay-proceeds-built garage became packed with wrestling stuff as well as an entire collection of Lionel trains which an elderly collector had entrusted me to sell off this past summer. HOWEVER, the two factions in my garage did not get along at all; singlets appearing on my Ebay page thoroughly confused my train buyers (mostly sedentary older guys) and my wrestling customers (mostly younger jocks). So, I've had to separate them with a referee, a mannequin named Rocky, in the middle of the garage. No knock-down-drag out fights so far, but my elderly train consignor regularly trips over my wrestling mats. The rassling gear is selling, a few items per week, but the books are another story. Not a great deal of interest in old wrestling books (which some of us fondly recall pulling from library shelves in our younger days)...no, not in the You Tube age, I guess. But there's a lot of great experiential knowledge in those old books which hasn't changed with technology; it's still two guys with only their muscles and their skills going at it...oh, and wearing one of my colorful old singlets! Very interesting post! How about including a photo of Rocky separating the two factions. :)

Unfortunately, Rocky has neither arms nor legs but does wear a singlet well! Please log in to view gallery photos.
