Something completely offtopic: this is a POV video of me cycling through Budapest in the evening.

Lol of course I have visited a lot of European cities in the past and even though they spoke different languages they seemed to have a similar cosmopolitan vibe. Your video seemed to have that vibe too. 😊

The music is a remix of the "Hyperspace theme" from an ancient computer game called "The Ur-Quan Masters". I like it for its flow.

Budapest! Nice looking city. How do you find it riding at night? :) Peaceful?

What type of bicycle? Do you do triathalons or two sport biathalon races that include your bike?

I have an old trekking bike. Nothing special, it's good enough for me. I don't go to races, I just cycle for fun and transportation.

You sound like you are serious about biking, what sort of ride do you have?

I had an off road Schwinn mountain bike that I bought from a friend for $100. It got stolen. Need a new one but I enjoy Master's swim races & occasionally water polo. Basically I swim to help my back. There are mile swims too here in the Atlantic Ocean all summer + lakes.

I was last there in the old Communist days in 1977.
A very friendly but very dark city after 9pm on weekdays.
No crime!

You learned never to ask guys with submachine guns questions.
They were usually Russian.

Ice cream was cheap and everybody bought it.

We bought Pepsi from babushka ladies at the train station - after coming in from Vienna.
Had been told that the water was unsafe to drink.
A lie.
2 liters of Pepsi costed then equal to a 16 ounce bottle in the US.

My ex-girl friend was there 5 years ago to go the famous hot springs spa.
She loved the city.
Had been an escapee from Albania in the Communist days.
Still hates the Russians.
