i just came from no-gi jiujitsu and as usual fit right in with the younger members of the class., including in the live rolling. If u can handle the monthly gym fees and the transit pass to get there taking BJJ classes (gi, no-gi or both) might be a viable option where u will not feel left out.

At 76 and inside the top 3 tenths of one percent age wise on the site, and most of my remaining contemporaries have dropped out of fighting, it's no cakewalk to find action. Guys see the age in the top-side listings; and it doesn't matter if someone's prime directive here is fighting action, fantasy, or sex, they write you off and move on to checking out the next guy on the search list. If the profile isn't read, he doesn't get to see the history, the recommendations, no matter how recent and good they are. A lot is driven by fantasy; and there's little fantasy on the part of most guys simply is not someone over 70. Chalk it up to "human nature," maybe thantophobia. or at least, thanto avoidance. "I'm afraid he'll die while we're wrestling; and how will I explain that to the authorities?"

Some of us guys like me get turned on by guys 70 +, and frustrating trying to meet the few that are still active on these sites, personally you get me going and its a shame about the distance. Nothing wrong with fantasy and mixing it with wrestling, agree about ageism as I get it already at 56.

When I hit 65 I walked with a cane, due to spinal stenosis and was obese. Since then, been working out; and lost 30 lbs.; dropping 4 inches off my waist size and toning up. Now a regular gym goer, using weights, machines and heavy bags. Seeking boxing coaching, training, experience and recreational activities; like sparring in full boxing gear with like minded boxers. 60 y/o here. looking for real fights in California. Not just wrestling, but real fights.

I have great recommendations in my profile; but folks skip looking at a profile when they see the 60+ or 70+ age in the overall list – meaning they don't get to where the recommendations are in the first place, They probably assume that over a certain age, one is unable to wrestle at all, and are here only as "dirty old men.". Other than a couple guys I've known over a decade, I've met only a couple new local guys. A big problem are the teasers – they feign interest, but never willing to set a date (making them technically shy of being a formal "no show.) Even my doctor says wrestling is good for me–wish more folks here and elsewhere would oblige me :) Based on actual profile views, it seems Europeans are far less hung up about age than Americans are.

Very true,they drag u along for months claiming to be busy, but meanwhile they are wrestling others. Even chat you might exchange pleasantries but once they see you rage n the profile the chat stops right then and there. I get the impression that I am wasting my time here and that spending as much time as possible at the BJJ school is the better solution. There are 20 close members that show up when u click on members,even those 1km away can't seem to be bothered. Thus do this ageism just better to look elsewhere.

Age is only a number. Wrestling and boxing are good sports and a good work out. You have too keep the body moving. Know you limits. I like pro play wrestling because of surgery's but, I am not down for the count yet.

I'm stronger and more aggro than ever in my life, yet I have to "huff and puff to blow the house down," and still find it hard as hell to attract guys. – Solid recommendations and great recent pics, yet even fellow fighters over 60 are chasing after the young guys. It's the nature of the beast in the USA – not as open to age as in the UK and much of the rest of western Europe. In the USA, it looks like Florida is the sole place for older fighters to be.

To each his own, but I have always been attracted to older men-I prefer a beefy rugged man to wrestle not a young twink. I know men here and on the other site who chop 10 years off of their age. Sad. Own it and be proud- esp if you look good for your age. Yes- the USA is very hung up about being young forever-hence all the awful plastic surgery. Just send it up in a red balloon- you cannot change people and their neuroses.

It is unfortunate that people are not honest about their age. I also notice some here lie about their weight as well, or their experience, known in the sport as sandbagging. It is called having an excuse in advance.Why not admit the other person is a better wrestler or boxer as the case may be? With the excuse and $2 you can ride the bus. I turned 69 in July and I have been in BJJ for almost 9 years less a few months here and there for injuries and illnesses and I did wrestle for a weak division 3 school for 5 years in college (1 year red-shirt) Yes I am just a blue belt when some who got their belt the same day are now brown. Yes, my game needs a lot of work. The answer me is to work harder, not to make excuses or lie about age, weight or experience but do my best on the mats. Thanks

I agree with the age chopping for sure! I wrestled a guy a few weeks ago and he admitted he was in his late 60's when his profile states 60... Funny thing was he looked great and really didn't need the the little white lie... LOL

You look one hulluva lot better than I did at 63. Don't know about compatible our wrestling tastes would be; but I'd do my durndest to make sure we'd have a great lively time at it. So if you get down my way, feel free to contact me if yur interested. Weather permitting, even in the backyard.

It's a shame that people get hung up on age - I've seen profiles where a guy won't wrestle people over the age of 40 and I think what the hell are they thinking - they're missing out on so many older guys who have great strength and skills, not to mention brilliant bodies! There are very few guys of any age or weight who don't look good in wresting gear ;)

Amen to that ;o) I personally prefer to wrestle guys over 40, but that could be a bias opinion. That's not to rule out younger guys, just in case they're reading this.

As long as a guy is of legal age, safe, sane, and clean, I refuse to play the demographics game when it comes to encounters. Doing so curtails both the living and the learning experience. You never know who on the entire site, if given the opp, could become one of your best friends and a durned good sparring partner. FYI–Betcha a good number of the "younger" guys you seek are much older than what's in the profile. The distribution of reported ages don't align all that well with the demographically expected. Congrats to the site owners for presenting so many stats on its overall membership.

Learned of this site merely days ago. Hoping there's some of that demand for older men extends to the 70 and up demographic, here. Only know two guys into 70+ – long-time younger friends of mine. Be nice if this site yields a few local guys for me over the ensuing months :)
