Thank you, gentlemen, for your interesting, thoughtful replies so far. There is probably much more to be said on the subject but I appreciate the trouble you have all taken so far.

But I shouldn't be surprised. There are of course a few less pleasant people on our site but they seem to constitute a very small minority: most people here seem to be supportive, tolerant, interesting.

Anyway, it's good - and sort of encouraging - to find that some of you share my own indifference to "dangly bits".

You're fine to be indifferent about dangly bits, more for the rest of us. You do you, as long as everyone is having fun.

Yes: if no children or animals are harmed and both participants are happy, safe, agreed on any boundaries and having FUN, difficult to see what's the harm.

That's a very odd statement and the way you've phrased it comes off as a lot of internalized homophobia and I'm concerned there may be a lot of sexual repression going on. At no point was anyone suggesting sex with kids or animals, breaches in consent and why would you say that even when everything is kosher it's hard to see the harm implying that consensual play by two men is always inherently immoral or harmful? Is that really what you're trying to say?

Of COURSE consensual play between consenting adults is not reprehensible, immoral or harmful. Sex with kids, animals, breaches in consent, however? The thought, of course, just makes me feel quite sick.

No: I was ONLY thinking of, referring to, joshing, films etc where current orthodoxy seems to OBLIGE the insertion of a formal notice in the credits "No animals were harmed in the making of this film ..."

That's really all I meant.

dangly bits ... <grin> ... I've met a number of guys over the years whose interest in the dangly bits was very minor, compared to a major interest in scissor holds. So you're not at all alone in that way.

I don’t know the right answers, but here are some possibilities.
There could be a component about the need of experiencing control coming from someone else. This need may come from some subconscious wirings that developed over the years - mainly in childhood. Other wirings may associate this type of control to thighs, squeezes, and / or muscles. And perhaps a proximity to that is head scissors!
Obviously, this is not a fully baked concept, but there is a possibility that the interest in head scissors is coming from a deeper place.
